Crosswords

I'm going to start with a little tip.

It may sound a little odd but when I was at my worst I turned to crosswords. I was so depressed that I couldn't contemplate watching telly, going for a walk/run, reading etc.

My mum was supporting me at the time and used to do crosswords all the time. She one day asked me if I would like to help her with one. I was a bit unsure, but I agreed. Within minutes I was absorbed. It was the challenge, in some small way, that set off a tiny spark of interest in my brain. I was hooked. For that hour or so I forgot all my problems. It was such a relief to be able to enjoy something, even if just for a short time. We would do 3 or 4 a day. It wasn't a cure but I helped with the symptoms immensely.

I still do crosswords today. I tend to go for easy or medium difficulty and stay away from cryptic! Just normal general knowledge crosswords.

Try it. You might get hooked like me!

Take care.

Steve.

Other Sites

Just quickly to let you know I've set up a message board called the Bournemouth Depression and Anxiety Group at http://www.members7.boardhost.com/bdag and I can be found on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=20237552793.

Good morning and welcome.

Hi there.

I'm on a library PC so have only really had time to set up this blog. Over the coming weeks I plan to share with you my experiences of severe depression and anxiety. I hope you may learn a little about me and this destructive illness.

Many thanks.

I'll be back soon.

Steve.
